Introduced in 2001, the Dot NAME generic Top-Level Domain is the only one supposed to be for personal web pages only. These domain names can consist of personal or fictional names, nicknames and/or other designations people are known by. At first, just third-level registrations were allowed, so if you planned to buy john.doe.name, you would have to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was liberalized and 2nd-level registrations were also permitted. Already registered third-level names remained running.

You will have the opportunity to correct the WHOIS info, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an existing domain to our firm if you acquire its EPP transfer key from the current domain provider and we will renew it after the transfer has been done. There are no specific stipulations on who can buy a dot NAME domain name, but in order to preserve the concept behind its establishment alive, the Registry may check who the Registrant is and if there is no connection between the owner and the actual domain name, the registration may be challenged.
