There are various ways to direct a domain name to a different domain or subdomain and one of them is by setting up a CNAME record. When you own a domain name and you've developed a site using some on-line service which supplies you with a service subdomain, you can easily link the two by creating a CNAME record for your-domain.com that directs to subdomain.provider.com. What you're going to achieve by doing this is that www.your-domain.com will be in the web browser address bar while it opens the already mentioned site from the servers of the third-party company. It is very important to know that if you create a CNAME record, any other records your domain address may have will stop working, so you can't have both a CNAME record directing to one provider and functioning e-mail address with a different one. The CNAME record is always an alpha string, not a number, and sometimes further configuration may be necessary with the other company.

CNAME Records in Cloud Web Hosting

Setting up a CNAME record using our Linux cloud web hosting packages is extremely simple. Our in-house built Hepsia Control Panel has a section devoted to the DNS records of your domains, so you can create a new CNAME record for any domain or subdomain hosted in your account in just a few easy steps. You'll find a video tutorial inside the same section in which you can see the process first-hand. This feature provides you with a number of options - if you create a company website on our end, as an illustration, the staff can use their e-mails with the company domain address, not with the address of our mail server. If you want to create an Internet site through a different company which offers online web design services, you can easily forward a domain name hosted here and use it for the website. Last, but not least, if you have an online store and you have a billing system for http://your-domain.com and/or an SSL certificate, you'll be able to set up a CNAME record for the www subdomain and direct it to the main domain, so all your customers are going to be forwarded to a secure URL.

CNAME Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

You are going to be able to set up, edit and delete CNAME records really easy with all of our semi-dedicated server plans. The accounts are controlled using the custom Hepsia hosting Control Panel, and in one of its sections you'll see all records for every domain address or subdomain which you have added in your account. To set up a new record, you only need to choose the hostname that will be forwarded (domain/subdomain), enter where it is going to be forwarded to, choose the record type, which will be CNAME in this case, and you will be all set. Even if you haven't used a web hosting service before, our Control Panel is incredibly easy to use, so you'll not have any problems. We also have a short video and an in-depth help article on how to create a CNAME record, both of which could be found in the same section of Hepsia. With this feature, you can easily use a domain address hosted on our cutting edge cloud hosting platform for a website created elsewhere, set up a custom webmail login address with any of your domain names, and much more.
